Mr. Woods,Thank you for expressing your concerns on HB95. Let me explain somemis-conceptions you might have regarding the intent of the bill. Yourmajor concern was the use of CB or HAM communication in vehicles. Myintent was not to limit those uses and in fact I have drafted anamendment to the bill, which will be presented in committee, thatwould take the words "two-way radio" out of the bill. my intent withthat language was to limit the use of the technology of wirelessNextel voice to voice devices but I later realized the words "two-wayradio" would also limit the use of the trucker, CB and HAM operations,which was not my intent.Banning the use of cell phones and texting while driving contstitutesan issue of protecting the public health and safety.Thank you for writing with your concerns and I hope the changes I'vemade to the bill would gain your support.SincerelyRep.
